Black bear carcass, missing head and paws, found in Perry County

The remains of a black bear were found in Tuscarora State Forest in Jackson Township, Perry County, and reported to the Pennsylvania Game Commission on March 12. Wildlife Conservation Officers said the carcass had been dumped about 15 yards over an embankment along Laurel Run Road.

The bear, a male, weighed approximately 175 pounds, and the head and paws had been removed from the carcass, the Game Commission said. "This had been a beautiful bear. All indications point to an illegal kill," District Wildlife Officer James Brown said.

Anyone with information may contact the Game Commission at 814-643-1831 or the Bureau of Forestry at 717-536-3191.
