Bears are infrequent visitors to Bowen Island; so the decision was made to live trap and relocate a recent bear visitor. The problem is that the bear evades the traps and can't be found to tranquilize. Residents need to secure attractants to prevent conflicts. Read the story here.

For the safety of humans and animals - "No-Stopping" zone signs need to be posted so that motorists know that stopping on the side of the road to watch wildlife is prohibited. Furthermore, Ministry of Transportation officials need to plant non-wildlife friendly vegetation on the sides of the road to prevent roadside grazing. Read the story here.
