For the second consecutive year, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler has made a donation of $5,000 to the Society as part of the Chateau's Eco-Innovation Signature Project.
"This partnership is a natural fit", states Lynn Gervais, Fairmont Chateau Whistler Director of Public Relations and Environmental Committee Chairperson "Get Bear Smart works to provide a safe environment for people and bears to co-exist in harmony. We have the means to communicate these initiatives to our guests while still providing an authentic experience." These funds have been designated for educational materials like the Bear Smart Visitors and Resident's guides.
Colleagues at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler have also embraced this partnership. Two bottles drives were held at Staff Housing over the past year, raising $500 for the Get Bear Smart Society. Additionally, live mini-Christmas trees placed in guestrooms over the holidays are being sustained through the winter months and when the ground thaws, will be planted by colleagues in the ski area above the hotel to enhance habitat for local bears.
If you want to "go green" while vacationing in Whistler, we recommend The Fairmont Chateau Whistler's "Green With Envy" environmental travel package which includes a donation to Get Bear Smart. For reservations, call 1-800-606-8244 or click www.fairmont.com/whistler.
